Todays attitudes on smoking

I have had no less than three complaints about smokers today, make no
mistake they were not on or in the premesis but had in fact commited
the grevious crime of smoking near our front door.
Since the 1st of July 2007 attitudes towards smokers have slipped to
the point of regarding smokers as a lower species.

Interestingly there is a historical precedent for an all out smoking
ban. In order to preserve their percieved racial supremacy, Hitler
banned all Germans from smoking.

Whether you are a smoker or not, you have absolutely no right to view
smokers with the increasing disdain that we are seeing.

Many people will claim that smokers are selfish, putting their needs
before the health of others. But before you level that accusation at
others, ask yourself this:

Do you ever drive when you could have walked?

Given the emissions of the average family car, you are potentially
contributing to the ill health of a wide range of people, and
arguably in a more severe way than the smoker stood out in the open
way.

I have had people complain saying that they do not like the smell of
cigarette smoke. This is a far more valid reason, but still highly
unjustified. Personally I find that if a woman wears perfume in heavy
doses I have sneezing fits. Yet I am subjected to this on a daily
basis, why then is it seen as wrong for someone to have to smell
cigarette smoke for a short time?

Ask yourself where the tax from cigarettes goes, would you really be
better off without smokers? I think probably not, cigarette tax
revenue per annum is worth billions, would you be happy to curb the
shortfall with extra income tax.

Next time you are walking down the street, don't shoot looks at the
smokers, treat them as you would any other person.
Many feel the UK's smoking ban went too far, unless you spoke against
it, you supported it by default.

Learn some tolerance and this world will be a much nicer place to live.
