My thanks go out to the developers of VirtualBox. Thanks for a fantastic piece of kit guys! Until today I have been using Qemu, which has, in all fairness, been more than adequate up until now. Unfortunately I couldn't install Windows 7 under it, I kept hitting STOP errors, reports on the net show that some have gotten a little further by recompiling the KQemu module, but many could not complete the installation. I had looked a VirtualBox the other day, so I figured I'd give it a try. The installation was a breeze, and the setup GUI even had an option for Windows 7 in it. Things ran pretty smoothly under it, although I did make the mistake of selecting my USB mouse and Keyboard as devices to provide to the Guest OS. Bad idea! Thankfully I managed to regain control of the Host OS using a PS/2 keyboard, and it is a mistake that I am unlikely to make again. So once again, Thanks Guys, and I look forward to the next release of VirtualBox. |
