Amnesty Condemns Iraq Executions
20 04 07 - 17:31Personally I feel that Saddam was allowed to take the easy route out, I must admit to feeling a bit safer knowing he is no longer of this world, but his execution was wrong. Especially the way it was handled. He was a much hated man, but it is unfortunate that his execution could not have been executed (excuse the pun) a bit more professionally.
On this issue Amnesty are completely correct, too many are being executed and too hastily. As the new shows us, the re-introduction of the death sentence is not really having much of an effect on the unstable situation. Still it is of course up to the Iraqis to decide how to govern themselves, but there has been enough blood spilt in Iraq without the new government causing more. The new Government was supposed to bring about peace, instead people continue to die, and a great number of these are at the hands of the Iraqi justice system. Not all that far from the days of Saddam now are we?
Still i think (and hope) things will improve. Things certainly cannot continue in the way that they have so far.
