05 05 07 - 13:28In the slightly more relevant news Youtube face another lawsuit this time from the British Premier League (football). The Premier League claim that "Youtube knowingly misappropriated its intellectual property by encouraging footage to be viewed on its site." As we all should know by now, there is no such thing in law as Intellectual Property, it is simply the latest buzzword employed by companies such as SCO and Microsoft. This lawsuit in my eyes is frivolous, so long as entire matches are not being uploaded to Youtube then any reasonable judge should find that users are exercising their Fair Use Rights. For any company to deny us those rights is unfair and should not be tolerated. I find it strangely ironic that the organisation that has spoken against it the most has itself become a British Football Hooligan.
Social Lending is set to be the next big thing on the net, or so we are told. I think it is about time something came along, given the exorbitant charges levied by banks and building societies. Almost a year on, Prosecutors want to charge Pirate Bay. I think that this is unfortunate for the founders of Pirate Bay, but sadly inavoidable. There will always be someone however that stands up against the media industries DRM, this is the reason that many people download their movies.
A Harvard Professor has spoken out against the RIAA, as time goes by the RIAA and MPAA seem to be making more and more enemies.
Hans Reiser's Prosecution have revealed to the Defence Counsel that Nina's Ex-lover has confessed to killing 8 people. Although Hans will still stand trial, this will no doubt complicate matters. The Ex-lover has not confessed to killing Nina however.
The Tories maybe capable of doing something right!
