Yesterday was an excellent day!

25 05 07 - 00:00

Yesterday was a really good (and eventful) we paid 65 quid for a train
down to London and went to the london international wine and spirits
fair.We met a Romanion Baron and a princess. They even gave me a free
bottle of wine made from a local grape.

we spent the whole day
tasting new products, some of which were absolutely earth shattering.
There are too many to list now, but I am intending on publishing a
list of the best very soon.

We also sampled La Fees entire
absinthe range, the bohemian is well worth buying if you can afford
it. I believe the best product I tried was from Hardys. In essence it
is a wine fortified with chocolate essence. This product both smells
and tastes of chocolate. The rep described it as "the product of
consumer innovation". It is not currently available in the UK but they
are looking to bring it here.

Another fantastic product that
will soon be unleashed on the UK is Fetzers Gewurztraminer. It is
expected to retail at approximately 7.99 and their main hold up seems
to be how to get the UK consumer to try the aromatic variety. Sadly
the reputation of Gewurztraminer (and Riesling for that matter) has
been tarnished by the low grade german wines that the UK has seen in
recent years.

An interesting note for those who are interested,
Fetzer is highly environmentally friendly, and surpass many of the
requirements of calling a product organic. Their main offices are
actually built from mud, and all waste from creating the wines is put
onto a mountainous compost heap.

Yesterday was a fascinating
day, and I think that (especially where canadian wines are concerned)
the UK consumer is soon going to see some fantastic products appearing
on the market.
