Network Rails profits justified?
29 05 07 - 00:00made quite a large profit and is awarding some huge (albeit deferred)
bonuses to its top bosses. There have of course been suggestions that
this money should be re-invested instead.
My experience with
the trains over the last few days has been abysmal. The railway has
just changed to a summer timetable which basically means less trains
in the evenings. The only logic I can see behind this is that summer
evenings are (supposed to be) warmer, so you are less likely to catch
hypothermia waiting two hours for a train!
Worst of all is that there
are also trains being canceled which could potentially leave you
waiting for four hours.
Statistically more people go out
(especially drinking) in summer time, so why are we seeing fewer
services?
