Today's News Review
31 05 07 - 11:43Google have said that their privacy policy is vague, and needs to be improved. I welcome the improvement, however I wouldn't go so far as to call the policy vague when compared with the Privacy Policies of many other companies. Google however does operate on trust, and I believe it to be a good thing that they are looking to improve upon this point.
Once again we see stories if children using the net when their parents are not aware. The biggest danger seems to be that these children are meeting 'net-friends' without so much as telling their parents. This could have serious consequences. Unfortunately however there is very little that can be done, children will always do what they want. I suspect this report is going to bring on more criticism from the many that want the net censored.
A Story from a few days ago, CD-Wow has been ordered to pay £41m in damages to the BPI it's crime? Importing CD's into the UK and selling at a cut price. These CD's are genuine, not copies and they ahve been ordered to pay £41m in damages. The BPI have once again thrown their toys out of the pram.
The irony is that had CD-WOW been a bigger company, the BPI would probably never have attacked them. The BPI share a great many characteristics with the one group of people they claim to abhor - Pirates!. I have spoken to Mr Jameison, head of the BPI as part of 'Defective By Designs' 'freedom bell rings at the RIAA protest' on a previous occassion. At first he was not even aware of what DRM is, or why it is used then finally he ran of the speel that we see so often in the Record Companies press statements on the matter. People at the BPI appear to be immoral, and have their eyes firmly fixed on the old 'buried treasure'.
