Call me cynical but if you are going to spend a thousand dollars on a Blu-ray player then you should be expecting better picture quality than a DVD, and by rights far better quality. Reuters is reporting that so far sales and impressions have been dissapointing. Considering the potential for highly restrictive DRM on this media, if the quality is not as good as people have been led to believe then very few people are going to want it. Personally I will not be buying Blu-ray or HD-DVD ever, not whilst it has the DRM that it does on it. I will not be spending money on a drive for my PC either, if in the distant future I am purchasing a new computer and it has a Blu-ray drive then I will simply request that the cost of the drive be knocked off and the drive taken out. I already do the same thing with computers that come with Windows on, so I have no problem doing the same for DRM! |
